C++ Serbia: The Votes Are In
Details
Hi everyone!
Join us this Wednesday for a casual beer meetup at Dogma Brewery & Tap Room. There is no talk this time, so everyone gets a say.
It has been a week of ballots. On Sunday, Serbia went to the polls in record numbers. A few days earlier, the ISO ballot on the C++26 draft closed and came back Disapproved. So we are doing what every committee does after a vote: meeting over a drink to argue about it. 🍺
## 🗳️ On the Table
- C++26 and contracts — The national bodies voted the C++26 draft down: 12 of 20 in favor where 14 were needed, and 9 of 22 voting No, well over the 25% allowed. Contracts look like the sticking point. Re-ballot as is? Pull contracts out? Ship it as C++27? WG21 meets in Búzios in November to decide, so come cast your (non-binding) vote first.
- Latest breakthroughs in scheduling algorithms — From kernel schedulers to work-stealing runtimes and `std::execution`. Read a paper you can't stop thinking about? Bring it.
- Whatever else is current — Your latest compiler bug, a war story from production, or a topic of your own. The floor is open.
## What to Expect
- Casual conversation — No slides, no agenda, no microphones. Just C++ folks hanging out over a beer.
- Meet the community — Whether you are a regular or this is your first time, come say hello.
- Opinions welcome — Strong ones especially. Unlike the ISO ballot, nothing decided at our table is binding.
## Who Should Attend
If you love C++, or you love beer, or you simply love hanging out with C++ developers (?!), you are welcome!
