C++ User Group Frankfurt Meetup #7

Details
We’re excited to announce that Guy Davidson, author of Beautiful C++ and Co-Founder of the ISO C++ Committee’s Diversity and Inclusion Group will be joining us as a guest speaker at our next User Group meeting! This is a great opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the language evolves — and to engage directly with someone helping shape its future. It's also your chance to get your hardcopy of Beautiful C++ signed by Guy.
Talk: Towards cross-platform reproducible floating-point arithmetic
It doesn't take too many hours of programming with floating point arithmetic to realise that this is not the arithmetic you knew about. There is latitude for disagreement between implementations, and this is problematic. This talk will cover the efforts to introduce truly portable floating point arithmetic to C++, leading to deterministic results on all platforms. Expect an introduction to fixed and floating point arithmetic, a look through the IEEE standard and the C++ standard regarding floating point arithmetic, and general wailing and gnashing of teeth as we try and resolve all this.
Presenter: Guy Davidson
