To Catch a mocking Bug! Unit-Testing in C++

The idea of automated unit testing is not new. It probably became popular with the advent of SUnit, a unit-test framework for SmallTalk, developed by Kent Beck in 1989, and was democratized with JUnit, the equivalent of SUnit for the Java platform. C++ got it’s port of JUnit around 2000 from Michael Feathers with CppUnit. Since then, a slew of Unit-Testing Frameworks for C++ have appeared, notably the following : GoogleTest, Boost.Test and Catch (And Catch2). This talk will look at the importance of automated unit tests, and show how Catch2 differentiates itself from other frameworks and can be a great choice as a framework for unit-testing, with examples and ideas.

Jean-Michel Carter will be giving this talk in English. The meetup will be held at Google's Office in Montreal, at 1253 avenue McGill College, #150. The doors open at 6 pm.
