In this presentation, Tristan will discuss how he coded clang-tidy plugins and used them to replace in-house implementations of std::unique_ptr and std::shared_ptr by the standard library equivalents in a code base with over 1 million lines of code along with the challenges they faced and the takeaways they will implement in the future. He will cover the basics of the clang tidy tool and it's matching as well as processes they adopted for more rapid development of plugins, testing procedures for preventing regression and how they ran their rules on large code bases.
