Legal Hackers is a global movement of lawyers, policymakers, designers, technologists, and academics who explore and develop creative solutions to some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of law and technology. Through local meetups, hackathons, and workshops, Legal Hackers spot issues and opportunities where technology can improve and inform the practice of law and where law, legal practice, and policy can adapt to rapidly changing technology.
The third Legal Hackers meetup is a joint event between Cape Town chapter of the Legal Hackers and the Cape Town Candidates Attorney Association. Because these discussions can get heated (and because the third wave is here), this event will be virtual.
The meetup will involve a 30 minute talk about the collision of Artificial Intelligence and Patent law. Meshandran Naidoo, a PHd candidate will specifically discuss the approach that South Africa can take in navigating this novel field. After the talk there will be the facilitation of lean discussions in separate breakout rooms.
