Join us for an insightful meetup on "Data Mesh in Practice" as we explore the shift from central data lakes to decentralized Data Mesh and its implications on data management at ZEISS. We will kick off with a brief introduction to the evolution of data infrastructure and the reasons behind the emergence of Data Mesh as a more effective approach to handling large-scale data operations. This session will shed light on the various problems that Data Mesh can address, such as eliminating data silos, enhancing data discoverability, and improving data quality. We will discuss how Data Mesh can empower domain teams, enabling them to take ownership of their data assets and drive innovation at a faster pace. Despite its benefits, implementing Data Mesh can pose challenges. We will delve into the potential obstacles, including the need for a cultural shift within the organization, changes in governance and architecture, and the adoption of new technologies. Our aim is to equip attendees with a comprehensive understanding of Data Mesh and strategies to overcome its implementation challenges.

**Mitzu - Simple, warehouse-native product analytics**

As a former data engineer for multiple product development startups, I have seen a recurring pain that appears in product organizations. Decision makers in data-driven companies have a hard time learning from the actual customer usage data. The problem becomes especially evident when a company reaches the stage where it transitions to a central data warehouse. Mitzu is a no-code product analytics application that enables product teams to understand their customers directly from the data warehouse. In this talk, I will discuss the common product analytics pitfalls I have seen and how Mitzu solves them.
