What we’re about
Crafting in Community + Activism for Progress = CRAFTIVISM.
As our co-leader, Lisa, says, "The thing that will save us in a crisis is Authentic Community."
We are a group with 3 goals in mind:
- We create meaningful artwork together.
- We build community by honoring each other's lived experiences.
- We contribute to 1 new empowering project globally every month.
What do our meetings look like?
- 1**. Shared Brave Space** - we'd love to hear something brave you did this week, even if it's just showing up to this meeting. Did you speak up for yourself? For another? Did you take a risk or open your mind? Witnessing each other helps us keep our inner flame strong for sustainable action.
- 2. A monthly theme and the Craftivism project and you can choose how you will participate. These can include small group projects, individual projects, cut & pasting, painting, working with fabric, yarn, or string, coloring, beading, weaving, etc.
You just bring a $10-20 donation (unless you are a WEE Giving Group member), and we'll take care of the supplies and set-up. - 3. We'll share an update on our global empowerment projects and often hear from a guest speaker who is up to some good.
- 4. We'll open the floor for announcements about opportunities for greater involvement in global and local change. Such as protests, rallies, postcard parties, etc.
You are welcome to participate at a level that suits you - we support that! You'll get no pressure from us to "do more" or do any particular activity. This is about YOU finding ways that you can sustainably spend your energy where you choose.
See our website at WorldEE.org to become a Giving Group member (optional, not required to attend the meetup) and see our projects-to-date.
