What we're about

The Manifesto for Software Craftsmanship (http://manifesto.softwarecraftsmanship.org/) says, "As aspiring Software Craftsmen we are raising the bar of professional software development by practicing it and helping others learn the craft." This group is about putting that statement into action in Central Illinois.

If you are interested in software development done well, this group is for you. From complete novice to senior-level professional, each of us is aspiring to improve our skills by practicing them and helping others to learn. Some of the ways we do this include co-working sessions, social gatherings, technical presentations, and the Software Craftsmanship in Central Illinois Slack Workspace (https://join.slack.com/t/craft-central-il/shared_invite/enQtMzIxODI4MTg3MzY2LTNkY2RmYjY2ZGNmNmI2MmFkNjM3MTlmNmJkNzVmMjRmYzhjOGRkYTI2YjQ0M2Y2NTQ3YzI1YTQ0MGMxMTI0N2U).

The world of software craftsmanship is not limited to developers. Students, designers, agile coaches, sysadmins, and project managers are among the many other people likely to be interested in what we are about.

***PLEASE NOTE*** The "man" in "craftsMANship" is short for "mankind" which is an inclusive term for all human beings. We value diversity, do not discriminate on any basis, and joyfully invite everyone to join us in the pursuit of excellence in software.
