This is a workshop/demo that I haven't run for a few years but I get lots of requests/questions about what to do with your files after you take the pictures?

On Sunday, February 2nd, you are invited to a lecture and demo where I will cover the three topics of:

  1. File management - how to name, preview, cull and select your images as well as how to catalog and store them.
  2. Using Lightroom to further sort and do baseline processing on and do a "Lightroom finish" with the image.
  3. Then I will take the image into Photoshop and show how further we can go with Photoshop that Lightroom can't do (and you'll see how you can easily spend a lot of time working on one image).

I will start the session by photographing someone (perhaps a model) with lights and then go through the entire process on one or two images.

You'll get to see the tools I suggest and I'll be happy to explain each step of the process, but this is not a workshop, as there will not be enough time for you to follow along on your computer. I suggest you bring your computer if you want to try something later, but come with a pen and note pad to take notes

Both Lightroom and Photoshop are capable of creating stunning portraits (headshots) and I will do a complete Lightroom edit, followed by a Photoshop edit. Even though both are capable of finishing an image, you'll find you can do a lot more with Photoshop if you have the time.

During this session we'll cover:

• Brief lighting and shooting demo.
• My workflow of how I cull (reduce) and select images for editing.
• Importing into Lightroom and a basic Lightroom edit.
• Advanced Lightroom edit.
• Exporting out of Lightroom.
• Basic editing/starting point in Photoshop.
• Cleanup, exposure, color, skin.
• We'll see adjustment layers, blending modes and layer masks (selections) in action.
• Use of key plugins.
• Several ways to finish the image.
•We may also talk about beauty retouching as an bonus add on, and talk about editing hair and skin.

This is a demonstration, meaning you don't have to bring your laptop, but you are welcome to bring it and try a few concepts later.

Note: This demo assumes that you already know your way around your computer and have some knowledge of Lightroom or a similar photo viewing software.

Images will be posted on the group.
