## About this event

Many people with ADHD, Autism, or learning disabilities spend years masking—suppressing their true selves to fit in, stay safe, or avoid judgment. But what is the cost of constantly performing?
In this workshop, Unmasking with Compassion, we’ll explore the emotional and energetic toll of masking through the gentle, empowering tools of Nonviolent Communication and Self-Compassion. You'll learn how to recognize your own needs beneath the mask, meet yourself with kindness, and experiment with small, brave acts of authenticity.
This is a mindful, neurodivergent-affirming space where all parts of you are welcome—especially the ones you've been taught to hide.
Mary-Carmen Wiser (she/her) is a group facilitator, mindfulness educator, and passionate community builder with a Master’s degree in Mindfulness Studies from Lesley University. She specializes in creating trauma-informed, neurodiverse-affirming spaces where women and queer individuals can reconnect with their inner wisdom, release stuck emotions through somatic practices, and explore self-compassion as a radical tool for healing.
With a background in meditation, psychoeducation, and emotional awareness, Mary-Carmen supports others in working with their inner critic, releasing internalized oppression, and cultivating authentic connection—in both body and community. Her workshops weave together contemplative traditions, science-backed techniques, and fierce tenderness to support those who feel disillusioned by capitalist, patriarchal, and colonized systems.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED

We’ll be gathering in my cozy home studio space (upstairs, above the garage), with room for 10 participants. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to get settled. We’ll sit on meditation cushions (or folding chairs, if you prefer), with space to move and breathe. The practice is designed for beginners and seasoned meditators alike.
During our time together, I’ll guide a short meditation, share a bit of psychoeducation about neurodiversity, and invite optional sharing so we can build community rooted in safety and nervous system care.
