Kitchener Coffee & Conversation - Influence

Details
To carry on from last week’s topic on reality, let’s talk more this week about how we influence and how we are influenced. While some of us may beat to our own drum more than others, we are all interconnected and impact each other in seen and unseen ways.
I’m aware that even my choice of questions has influence, so I will do my best to be thoughtful about them. My goal is to make the questions broad to keep the conversation open to a wide range of perspectives…
-
Can you think of any experiences you’ve had where you were influenced by someone or something? How did this impact you either positively or negatively?
-
What impact do you think those in positions of influence have on us individually and as a society? How can we best navigate these influences?
-
In what ways do you influence others? What do you think “works” when it comes to having a positive influence on others and what doesn’t work or has a negative impact?
To answer this last question myself, I think that sharing from our experiences can sometimes be more impactful than just sharing our knowledge and opinions, because it helps us connect more deeply to each other’s perspectives. That’s been my experience, although I can sometimes forget to practice this myself.
So join us this Thursday as we influence each other through conversation… hopefully in a really good way :) No worries if you weren’t there last week. You can jump in at any time and new faces are always welcomed.
LOCATION:
To accommodate our growing numbers and need for a quieter space we will be meeting in a church community hall listed below (this is not a religious gathering).
Community Hall
414 Fisher-Hallman Rd (view map)
Kitchener, ON N2M 4Y1
NOTE: The RSVPs here represent only some who may attend this recurring discussion group (such as 1st timers) along with regular attending members who may not RSVP here.
In this safe, inclusive, casual, and accepting environment, dialogue is encouraged over debate. No particular set of beliefs (or creed) is required. Whether to discover yourself amidst a community on a common journey or to find meaning among new friends, there is room at the table for you.
See you there!
