Kitchener Coffee & Conversation - Fears & Phobias
Details
Did you know that the most common phobia is social anxiety? A close second to that is arachnophobia. That means we fear each other even more than we fear spiders. Sounds about right ;)
I know some people claim to be fearless, but since fear manifests in so many ways, I’m sure we all have some degree of it in different aspects of our experience. So this week let’s talk about what we fear and the effect it has on us with these questions…
-
What are your biggest fears? Where do you think these fears came from and would you consider them rational or irrational?
-
What impact do your fears have on your experience and how do you cope with them? What do you think the best/worst approach is to dealing with fear?
-
Does fear ever serve an important purpose, and if so when and how? When should we listen to our fear and when should we challenge it?
No matter what your fears are I hope you can join us. And if you happen to fear having conversations with strangers this is an opportunity to face your fear in a friendly environment :) Hope to see you Thursday!
LOCATION:
To accommodate our growing numbers and need for a quieter space we will be meeting in a church community hall listed below (this is not a religious gathering).
Community Hall
414 Fisher-Hallman Rd (view map)
Kitchener, ON N2M 4Y1
NOTE: The RSVPs here represent only some who may attend this recurring discussion group (such as 1st timers) along with regular attending members who may not RSVP here.
In this safe, inclusive, casual, and accepting environment, dialogue is encouraged over debate. No particular set of beliefs (or creed) is required. Whether to discover yourself amidst a community on a common journey or to find meaning among new friends, there is room at the table for you.
See you there!
