Sunday Breakfast, Hike & Dinnner: An Optimally Idealistic Day with Great People
Details
Hi Folks
I'm an idealistic, irreverently silly fellow and like the idea of combining both for this week's upcoming hike. This event is cross-promoted on two other groups, so even if you don't see many people sign up for this event, feel free to come down. Usually we have 15-30 people
First, I'd like to set a theme for this Sunday's hike, along the lines of,`How can each of us improve the good we do, decrease the not good, to create something great??' For example:
Increase the Good: I'm volunteering to be a Foster Daddy for two cats thru VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitty Rescue Organization at www.orphankittenrescue.com/ Currently they need some foster homes because they have extra cats. It's a volunteer-run organization)
Decrease the Not So Good: I tend to have an inappropriately silly sense of humour ie prior to last week's hike, i asked people to,`Please be careful and don't fall over the suspension bridge. If you do, then hopefully you won't make it, so i don't get sued.' I should try to stop doing that. Even though it's really fun to see some shocked faces;-) and hear delayed laughter.
Create something Great: I'm going to try very hard to not say to my cats, `Who's your Daddy.'
Second, i would like everyone to think of the silliest, most offbeat joke you can think of. And hopefully you'll be willing to share that with a complete stranger. I tend to be a very serious high brow (see above) fellow, so it's good for me to unwind accordingly and hear some silly, giggle worthy jokes on Sunday..
Tentative Agenda
10:30 am Buddha at 10:30am, leaving at 10:50am (10% off of all food/drinks) http://www.buddha-full.ca/
11:15 am Cleveland Dam http://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/capilano-canyon/
4:00ish Panz Veggie: Chinese Food (10% off all food/drinks) http://www.panzveggievancouver.com/home-page/
Carpooling: To help protect our environment, limited parking available, and high cost of fuel, it is recommended that we carpool whenever possible. While the group does not endorse any formal policy, it is typically suggested that passengers offer the driver $5.00 per hour of driving (includes mileage and vehicle wear & tear). However, private arrangements between passenger(s) and driver may be made ahead of time. Please note in your RSVP whether you can offer a ride or need a ride, and where you will be coming from. Passengers, please ensure you show up on time and bring an extra bag for wet/muddy footwear and clothing.
Please do not leave carpooling arrangements until the last minute. The organizer is not responsible for arranging carpooling opportunities on your behalf - that is strictly the responsibility of every individual member. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Disclaimer:
Please note that we are not a professional organization nor a group composed of trained professional guides. This group is run entirely on the efforts of volunteers and the active participation of members. The success of each event depends on the cooperation & efforts of every member who participates. Although we always make an effort to look out for one another, to the best of our ability, each of us is nevertheless responsible for our own safety and well-being during every event. By RSVPing "yes" for this event, you acknowledge and accept these terms.
Also, I am not connected to any religious, political, small biz or corporate organization. Nor do I want anyone to offer me money or buy a coffee. Past 6 hikes, that has happened a couple of times. I will say Thank You, but No. If you insist, then I will suggest you donate what you want to some global micro-finance cause or local homeless cause. I'm doing this event, because I want to. And it makes me feel good. I hope to meet like-minded people, doing or on the path to doing good in our community, city and country. So i really am getting a lot more than I am giving.
Also, I'm not great at the event planning or have a good memory. If i were to plan my own surprise birthday party, I would forget to show up. But if i do show up, then I still might be surprised. And would probably forget to buy myself a present. Moreover, I always seem to forget that i don't like surprise parties.
So I will probably forget your name. And I will probably forget to apologize, so i will apologize in advance, if this is not a perfect event. And if you're dissatisfied with the hike, then I will offer a full refund of your money plus 25%.
Note: there is no fee for the hike

And most important, Have fun, Laugh lots and Stay Safe..
Cheers
