Workshop: Build a Cat Castle

Artists Nick Tobier and Ivana Filip are organising a "Build a cat castle" workshop in Prostor. Using simple materials (cardboard boxes, foam, tape and plastic sheeting) come make a shelter for neighbourhood cats and provide a safe place for our feline friends. This is their city as well. You can customise these structures for maximum comfort, weather conditions, safety and delight.

Nick Tobier studied sculpture and landscape architecture, worked at Storefront for Art & Architecture in NYC, and as a designer with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation/ Bronx Division, and LandWorks Studio, Boston. Nick’s focus as artist-designer is in the social lives of public places, both in built structures and events from bus stops, to kitchens and boulevards in Detroit, Tokyo, Toronto, San Francisco. His work has been seen at the Smithsonian, The Queens Museum, NY, The Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh and as part of the 2019 Prague Quadrennial.

Ivana Filip is a multidisciplinary Croatian artist, activist and researcher, who expresses interests in emotion, compassion and interconnectedness of all life through performance, live work, video, photography and mixed media and co-creates with cats, dogs, plants, and many more-than-humans and humans. Ivana earned an MA in Economics at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, an MA in Arts at the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg and a BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally.

Workshop will be held in English language. All the material needed to make the shelters will be provided. If you have material that could be used in construction, feel free to bring it with you to the workshop.
