Artist talk: Jovan Josifovski - Dead Boys Camp

Macedonian artist Jovan Josifovski will be in residence at Prostor in May as a finalist of the DENES 2024 Young Visual Artists Award.

Join us for the artist talk, as part of this year's edition of qFEST, where Jovan will present his recent artworks, publications and show the short film The Metastasis of Vergina.

Josifovski’s artistic practice focuses on the vulnerability of queer life in the post-Yugoslav context, with a particular emphasis on violence and complexities within the family, examining the delicate and often tense relationship between parent and child. His work critically engages with local politics, exploring the influences of church, state, the current rise of the right wing and the anti-gender movement on social dynamics and community life. His artistic practice ranges from traditional drawing and collage techniques to diverse media, including installations, text and performance.
