Opening programme (hybrid form - both online & in person):

- 11:00-11:30 Dina Aqel, Eric del Castillo, Neli Ružić
We will move through the gallery, narrating and discussing the artworks on display. Dina Aqel focuses on the sensual nature of art, aiming to depict the viability and paradox of life through combination of colours and textures, ultimately creating a sense of visual distance and depth that we can identify with. Her work refers to life’s strength, resilience, and the ability to continue.
Eric del Castillo is a multimedia artist who works with different discursive platforms, perceiving contemporary culture and every part of it as a storehouse of information from which he selects fragments of images and objects and intervenes them to create new relational networks and environments. Collage research is at the center of his many years of artistic activity. Not only as a visual language, but a way of thinking, acting and understanding the modern world.
Neli Ružić is a multimedia artist who explores the perception of time and various aspects of temporality in relation to historical narratives, the intersectionality of personal and collective memory, and migrations. Her artistic practice spans a diverse range of mediums and forms, encompassing interventions in public spaces, installations, video installations, and process-based works that intricately weave archival and documentary practices.

- 11:30-12:30 Dana Barqawi, “Re narrate- A visual commentary on colonial narratives in the Levant & Africa” (+ Q&A)
This series intends to explore narrations rooted in colonialism, sovereignty, community and womanhood. (Re) Narrate stems from reflecting on and challenging imposed colonial narratives, and positioning the indigenous story within a field of power. Dana Barqawi is a multidisciplinary artist and urban planner, based in Amman, Jordan. For Dana, the act of artistic creation is inseparable from notions of the real world. In times where socio-political changes compose an inherent part of our reality, Dana chooses to reflect the context within her work, consequently creating politically and socially engaged art. Dana’s work challenges colonial narratives, explores indigenous identities, and aspects of womanhood and community. Growing up with women who painted, sewed, designed, and made art, Dana extends herself through artistry and has a long-standing fascination with detail.

- 12:30-13:00 Klara Kusa, “Signs of the Ravaged Lands” (+Q&A)
This online talk introduces an ongoing research-based artistic project examining the Israeli-Palestinian crisis as it has intensified since October 7, 2023, with a specific focus on the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The project investigates how violence is produced, administered, and legitimized through state structures, legal frameworks, and cartographic regimes. Rather than offering closure, Signs of the Ravaged Lands positions artistic research as a critical tool for tracing destruction, absence, and responsibility within contemporary regimes of war and governance.
Klára Kusá is an artist whose practice draws on strategies of appropriation, experimentation, and material reuse. Influenced by post-war art, philosophy, and research-based methodologies, she engages with found objects and discarded materials to construct layered, site-specific installations. By reworking fragments of memory, material, and place, she investigates how trauma shapes perception, language, and social structures, transforming sites of rupture into spaces for reflection and potential healing.

*All talks are in English. It is possible to join the talks both in person and online, if you wish to participate online register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/pklqpeD4R0-NCnZrwwWGZw

In a time of deepening global crisis, Split for Palestine Fundraiser stands as both a humanitarian response and a moral statement. The situation in Gaza is not only a distant tragedy but a reflection of how the world responds to suffering, injustice, and the erosion of basic human rights. By organizing this event, our community asserts that compassion and solidarity remain powerful tools against despair and indifference.

This initiative transforms grief and outrage into collective action - an act of care that transcends borders. It reminds us that while we may feel powerless before large-scale violence, we are never without the ability to connect, to create, and to support those most affected. Every contribution - whether an artwork, performance, donation or simply presence - becomes a gesture of shared humanity.
