Creative Writing with Parts Work - Discussion and Prompts
Details
Have you ever noticed that different parts of you seem to want different things?
One part wants to write. Another part feels stuck. One part is excited and full of ideas, while another worries about getting it wrong.
In this online gathering, we’ll explore creative writing through the lens of Parts Work (inspired by Internal Family Systems and similar approaches). Rather than pushing through resistance, we’ll get curious about the inner voices, emotions, and experiences that shape our creative process.
Together, we’ll:
- Discuss how different parts of ourselves show up in creativity and writing
- Explore common creative blocks with curiosity and compassion
- Use guided prompts to connect with inner characters, emotions, and perspectives
- Experiment with writing from and about our parts
- Share reflections in a supportive, low-pressure environment
No previous experience with Parts Work is required. Writers of all levels are welcome, including those who are returning to writing after a long break or who identify as creatively blocked.
This is not a critique group. The focus is self-discovery, creative exploration, and developing a kinder relationship with your creative process. Sharing is always optional.
Bring something to write with, an open mind, and whatever parts of you decide to show up.
I look forward to writing with you.
Come as you are. Stay in what feels true. - Ellee
