About us
Creative & Resilient Voices NYC Literary Salon is a community for women who love books, writing, thoughtful conversation, and the power of stories to help us better understand ourselves and the world around us.
Created especially with women 40+ in mind, the salon welcomes adult women of all ages who are drawn to meaningful literature, creativity, reflection, connection, and lives in transition.
Through monthly gatherings, offered both in person and virtually, we will explore women’s voices across cultures, generations, and lived experiences. Our reading may include contemporary and classic literature, global women writers, writers of the African diaspora, poetry, essays, memoir, and other works that invite rich conversation.
But this is more than a book club.
Our gatherings may include facilitated literary discussions, guided writing prompts, readings, creative reflection, visits to bookstores and cultural spaces, and opportunities simply to gather with other thoughtful, curious women.
You do not need to consider yourself a writer to belong here. Readers, journalers, emerging writers, lifelong writers, and women who simply love ideas and conversation are all welcome. Some gatherings will incorporate the Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA) method, creating a supportive, inclusive space where participants can write from prompts, share work if they choose, and respond to one another’s writing with encouragement and respect.
At the heart of the salon is a belief that creativity and resilience are deeply connected. Stories can challenge us, delight us, help us make meaning of change, introduce us to lives different from our own, and remind us of the many possibilities within our own lives.
Our community is rooted in curiosity, openness, warmth, and respect. We hope to create the kind of gathering where women can arrive as they are, encounter wonderful writing, share ideas, make connections, and leave feeling nourished intellectually and creatively.
Join us for a monthly pause from the rush of everyday life: a space to read, write, reflect, and gather around stories.
