Introduction to Guided Drawing

Details
Guided Drawing is an evidence-based sensorimotor art therapy practice developed and taught by Cornelia Elbrecht. Emotions have a physiological expression- the more in touch we are with our bodies, the better we are at regulating our emotions. A body-focused approach helps us connect to the subconscious parts of our brain (the limbic system and brainstem) and process implicit memories that cannot be accessed through regular talk therapy.
The session will begin with an information session about sensorimotor art therapy, and warm up activities to reconnect gently with our bodies.
With your eyes closed, you will use both hands to map out sensations within your body and to draw any movements that your body might need to feel better. I will demonstrate the activity while also offering suggested shapes and interventions during the process.
