Fellow writers!

This is an extra session, dedicated to writing the perfect pitch for your book or story.
The strongest stories have a clear hook. A promise, a theme, an intriguing plot idea. And you want people to know about the greatness of your story, so they might pick it up and read it. Whether it's a one-liner at the diner table, an elevator pitch to a literary agent, or the actual blurb (teaser) on the back of your book; every word matters.

Let's do a writing exercise.
Choose one of your writing projects (it doesn't have to be finished) and do the following in preparation to the meeting:

  • Write a 2–3 sentence pitch (max 50 words) that captures the core of your story.
  • Then write a blurb (teaser) of up to 150 words that would make a stranger want to read it.
  • No backstory dumps. No endings. Sell the promise of the story.

Upload both pieces in ONE Google Doc in THIS FOLDER. Please include your name in the document title, so we know who submitted it.

Please don't comment on submissions from other writers in this folder until AFTER the meeting. We will pick a few submissions to read out and discuss during this session (all if there's enough time).
I will also bring some tips on how to write an effective teaser, and feel free to bring any tips, questions, good and bad examples yourself for a fruitful discussion.

All writers are welcome. All levels, published and aspiring authors, and you don't have to submit anything to join the call. As long as everyone is respectful and comments are constructive.

I look forward to seeing you on February 1st!
