Creative Writing in English: covers

This group is for anyone, everywhere, who wants to improve their creative writing skills and/or build a network with other writers. Whether you've only just started - or planning to - or are a published author doesn't make a difference; everyone is welcome, as long as you stick to our rules of mutual respect and constructive feedback.
It's also open to all kinds of writing: novels, short stories, non-fiction, song lyrics, screenplays, poetry, etc.

This is a special session focused on book covers.
What makes a cover great? What doesn't? If you have ever designed book covers, what tips can you give? If you have ever commissioned your book cover's design, tell us about the process and what to look out for.
Let's share preferences, challenges, and experiences with book covers and discuss how to secure a great cover.

P.S.: Our next "regular" meeting will be on July 5th. We will then review each other's work again as usual. We normally meet every 2 weeks, but I'm away on vacation on June 21st, hence that one is canceled.
You might have noticed we've moved our meetings from Thursdays to Sundays; I hope that will work for most of you.
