Details
Creative Code Meetup - July 2025
Agenda:
- 6:00 pm: CheckIn & Networking
- 6:30 pm: Welcome & Sponsor Message
- 6:35 pm: James Holden - "Benny is not a DAW". Benny is a modular open source software playground for making live music, which seamlessly integrates hardware and software, MIDI and audio. It was created by James for his own performances and now is available for anyone to use.
- 7:15 pm: Cheryl Hui - Reimagining Music-Making: Accessibility, Collaboration, and Design through Harmonix. A series of accessible, digitally fabricated instruments designed for intuitive and inclusive music-making. Blending design, interactivity, and sound, we are going to explore how emerging tools like 3D printing, sensors, and minimalist design can empower anyone, regardless of background, to create and connect through music. It will make you rethink what it means to play, compose, and collaborate in the age of creative technology.
- 7:45 pm: Masaru Mizuochi - Burying apples for creativity. Masaru Mizuochi will share his journey on creating artworks born from his research into creative coding. The presentation is full of diverse perspectives and performances, ranging from a piece that finds human individuality in a huge amount of video footage to his latest work, inspired by Diffusion Model, in which apples are buried in soil.
- 8: 15 pm: Suyash Joshi - Sonification of IoT Sensor Data. Suyash will present how he converted real time IoT Data from Raspberry Pi, Arduino and smart phone sensors into music and visuals that respond to interactive input using creative coding techniques.
- 8:45 pm: Wrap up
- 9:00 pm: Head to nearby pub for food/drinks and more chat!
