THE ACTORS GYM (BERLIN)
For all other events, take a look here
- You've done some acting before and would love to do more.
- You're a performer (e.g. improv/comedy/story teller) who'd like to develop your stage skills.
- You're an experienced actor who wants to meet other performers and flex your acting muscles.
The Actors Gym offers a supportive atmosphere of exploration at the Centre for Movement and Communication in Neukölln.
Through a series of games and exercises we'll work with voice, body and text to workshop a range of acting techniques and sharpen your skills as a performer. Each session will end with a prepared mini-performance.
Afterwards there will be a chance to hang out with other performers in the park opposite (if the weather is nice), or a nearby café.
Geoff - a qualified drama lecturer - has been teaching and performing for over twenty years. He has a passion for live performance and loves bringing creative minds together.
This is an English language event.

FAQ:
I've never done any acting before, is this workshop suitable for me?
Although most people who attend have done some kind of performance before, this would be a good space for you to dip your toes into the water.
We warm up with silly games, move into some more guided exercises (using body and / or voice) , which lead towards a more developed piece in the second half where actors work with a script-in-hand.
So far everyone who has attended has been friendly and supportive. Not many people who attend come from a pure acting background (instead they come from improv / dance / performance poetry / music, etc) and there is a range of experience levels within the group. Often we break up into smaller groups and learn from each other.
What should I bring? How can I prepare?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Bring a bottle (of water, not vodka). The space is also used as a dance studio, so you will be asked to remove your shoes.
Are you available for private tuition or corporate events?
Of course! Ask for more information.
What other workshops and events do you do?
