Flagstaff Area Monuments day trip

Details
Let's head up to the Flagstaff area to check out some national monuments, starting with Wupatki National Monument, a site considered a likely Chacoan outlier. Wupatki is a 2-3 hour drive from the Phoenix area (about 30 minutes north of Flagstaff), so let's meet just outside the Wupatki Visitor Center at 11:00 a.m. Be sure to bring a lunch, water, and sun protection. Wupatki can get pretty warm and does not have shade. For more info, visit:

Afterward, let's explore some of the smaller sites around Wupatki and Sunset Crater. The trails are generally pretty flat/easy, and all trails but Lomatki are at least partially accessible. The visitor center displays have been updated within the past 20-22 years, so the information available is generally current.
Depending on weather and interest, we could also stop by Walnut Canyon. Or, if you're like me, maybe go to Warner's for a few plants and a cup of tea or coffee. I like to be flexible with trips to northern AZ since the summer weather can change very quickly to rain/thunderstorms in the afternoon. Carpooling is also an option--feel free to post in the discussion board if you are looking to carpool--details should be worked out on PM since this group and its events are visible to the public.
