Come along with Fort Collins as we journey to build Zero Carbon New Buildings

Details
Join us tonight with Brad Smith from the Energy Services team at Fort Collins Utilities who will discuss a pathway to high performing buildings.
Born out of the community’s desire that “Everyone lives and works in healthy, energy and water efficient buildings which transition to become emissions free” is the development of a Performance Code Path to Zero Carbon New Construction by 2030. This is one part of a body of work to help the community achieve goals set forth within Fort Collins' Our Climate Future. Recognizing that the national energy code would not advance new building efficiency at the pace outlined in the City’s climate policy, staff set out to develop a unique code path for the city. Critical to
this work is innovation in the approach and establishing a way to debias the current code from gas equipment. This also needs to be balanced in a way that takes affordability into account, allows the building industry to be successful, and does not increase strain on our electric grid.
