PDX Mass Timber Roof Meetup

Details
Dear (Critical) Mass Timber Meetup Group,
After a busy season of events, we're thrilled to resume our regular meetup gatherings! To mark our return, we have an exciting event planned:
PDX Mass Timber Roof Meetup
On Thursday, May 23rd, we have the privilege of hosting the project team behind PDX Next, specifically, the remarkable Portland Airport mass timber roof.
Our panelists include:
- Port of Portland Development Team
- Jake Dunn (ZGF)
- Paul Vanderford (Sustainable Northwest)
- Katrina Day (Hoffman Construction Company)
- KayCee Hallstrom (Zip-O Laminators)
- Jared Revay (Timberlab)
- And more
The highlight of the PDX Terminal Core Redevelopment is an impressive 400,000 square-foot timber roof, a tribute to Oregon's natural splendor and its burgeoning wood innovation sector. This biophilic design offers travelers a profound connection to the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
Constructed with approximately 3.3 million board feet of Douglas-Fir, the roof boasts over 400 80-foot glulam arches, a Mass Plywood Panel roof diaphragm, skylight curbs, and a lattice of 3x6 Douglas-Fir inspired by traditional weaving techniques indigenous to the region.
During the meetup, we'll delve into various aspects of the project, including logistics, engineering and fabrication challenges, design and fabrication coordination, sourcing, tribal coordination, and more related to the mass timber roof at the Portland Airport.
Date: Thursday, May 23rd
Time: 4:00-5:30 pm
Location: Virtual - Zoom
