About us

This is a private local discussion group for people who enjoy thoughtful conversation, questioning assumptions, and exploring ideas without ideological conformity.

Our discussions regularly explore psychology, philosophy, science, human nature, technology, society, culture, history, futurism, and the broader forces shaping modern life.

This is not a debate club, activist space, or self-help group. It’s for intellectually curious people who enjoy analysing ideas openly, including controversial or uncomfortable ones, in a relaxed and socially grounded environment.

Many members are naturally reflective, analytical, introverted, or independent-minded, though anyone genuinely curious and capable of good-faith discussion is welcome.

Our Meetups

  • Sunday Discussions: Single-topic conversations exploring deeper questions and themes
  • Weekday Pub Evenings: More relaxed, free flowing discussion with member-proposed topics
  • Occasional Extras: Walks, exhibitions, talks, films, museums, and cultural events

What We Value

  • Rational thinking: Clear reasoning, intellectual honesty, and evidence-based discussion
  • Open exploration: Willingness to examine different perspectives, including unconventional or politically unpopular ideas
  • Psychological robustness: The ability to discuss difficult subjects without moral panic, outrage, or constant offence-taking
  • Curiosity: No expertise required, only genuine interest and thoughtful participation

We discourage:

  • ideological preaching
  • personal attacks
  • repetitive lecturing
  • discussion domination
  • performative outrage
  • trying to “win” every conversation

Controversial topics are welcome if approached thoughtfully and rationally. We actively maintain the tone of the group and may remove members whose behaviour consistently damages discussion quality or group atmosphere.
