About us
Any woman who isn't young and beautiful may be branded a "crone" (especially if she's refuses to conform to social expectations) and breaking a few rules won't lead to anarchy. We are a lot more friendly and welcoming than our group name may suggest so please come along and join us. This is a group for older women who are refusing to grow old gracefully, who don't want to become invisible and intend to keep on learning and growing, but we also appreciate a bit of sisterly support occasionally.
Getting older means coming to terms with loss, facing up to regrets, failing health, etc., but we intend to "ring the bells that still can ring" (Leonard Cohen). Who knows, together we may even discover a few bells that we haven't even thought of ringing yet? We will challenge ageist stereotypes, wear age-inappropriate clothes (if we want to) and celebrate our wrinkles (no Botox or fillers needed by us). Growing older can be an adventure!
In 1970s we may have been members of WLM CR Groups and 50 years later, we are not afraid of using the "F" word (feminism!). We still want to change the world...but we have not lost our sense of humour on the way.
Let's meet up and share experiences... who knows what we may chose to do in the future? A place to share concerns and worries maybe, but also somewhere to find other women to share our journey.
