Historically, unions were formed to help workers -- especially marginalized workers such as women, children, people of color -- gain job security and fair treatment from employers. These days, we are hearing suggestions that unions may no longer be needed, may in fact be undermining workplace efficiency, and maybe bad for our economy. Is it possible the union concept has reached its “sell by” date? Have we, as a society, evolved to a point where workers no longer need the types of protections unions offer?

Join us as we explore these questions and more in our attempt to understand the role of unions in America. People of all views are welcomed, appreciated, and heard.

Please do your best to arrive at the beginning of the meeting – once we are in breakout rooms and the conversations have started, the meeting doors close to new arrivals. The breakout rooms open (and the doors close) approximately 15 minutes after the hour.
