### Who Speaks for Our Schools?

Local school boards help make decisions about public education — from budgets and curriculum priorities to policies that shape daily school life. For some people, school boards feel close and personal. For others, they operate quietly in the background.
At this meeting, we’ll reflect on how our own experiences — as students, parents, educators, taxpayers, or community members — shape how we think about local schools and the people who guide them.
We’ll explore questions such as:

  • What memories stand out to you from your own time in school? How did decisions made by adults affect your experience?
  • Have you ever attended, followed, or been personally impacted by a school board decision? What was that like?
  • In your community, when do you notice people paying attention to schools — and when do they not?
  • Have you seen moments when schools brought a community together? Or created tension?
  • What hopes do you carry for the students in your area today?

This conversation invites us to listen to one another’s experiences with education — and to reflect on how communities navigate decisions that shape the next generation.

Please do your best to arrive at the beginning of the meeting – once we are in breakout rooms and the conversations have started, the meeting doors close to new arrivals. The breakout rooms open (and the doors close) approximately 15 minutes after the hour.
We would love to hear your thoughts on our social media pages.
