A Deeper Look: American Values

American Values lie at the heart of all our Crossing Party Lines conversations. Do we all agree on what these are? And if not, where do the differences lie?

This will be the topic of our first "Deeper Look" gathering.

I've scheduled our meeting room for five hours. The meeting may not last that long. We'll play it by ear and see where the discussion takes us. The tentative schedule will be:

• 10:00 to 12:00 -- Explore what we mean by American Values; see how similar or different our views are and try to understand why.

• 12:00 to 1:00 -- Lunch (Everyone is on their own and encouraged to take advantage of local eateries in small or large groups. Or bring a sack lunch and hang out at NXT.)

• 1:00 to 3:00 -- Take the discussion in any direction the group chooses. Perhaps look at where we may be getting our values: church? media? schools? home? government? Or explore the intersection of values and party platforms to see how the different parties align with our personal values. Who knows?
