Open source hack day with CETI at PSU

Details

Join hackers, artists, engineers and creative technologists from Crowd Supply and CETI as we team up to host an open hack day. Come make, hack and chat with us!

We will have a number of interesting hackers and makers from our communities on hand to talk nerdy with, including a very special guest all the way from Singapore: xobs (Sean Cross), with his latest creation Farpatch.

The CETI Lab will be opening its doors on Friday 9th September from 11-4. Come along to hang out and hack, or learn how to make your own mini interactive murals with Sean Light and Scott Garner, who will lead a session on musical and interactive mural creation.

On Saturday 10th September we'll be at the CETI Lab from 11-4 with several hackers, makers and engineers from the Crowd Supply and CETI communities. Join us to learn about new techniques and technologies, or bring a project to work on at the Lab.

Hardware hacker? Come on over! We will have some top tier hardware folks hanging out over the course of the day, including xobs (Sean Cross). Dive deep into debugging and hardware design or learn how to wield a soldering iron at the CETI electronics workbench.

Want to make musical instruments? Chat with Helen Leigh, Darcy Neal and other friendly local music hackers who will be bringing their work and knowledge to share. We will have experimental hardware, open source synth software and unusual materials for you to look at.

You'll also be able to explore Augmented Reality with Martin Smith, who will be a leading a collaborative AR tour creation.

We will have tables with basic tools and materials for experimenting, but please feel free to bring along your own projects to show off or tinker on as you chat.

Coffee, snacks and lunch from the farmer's market will be provided.

Not local? We have a stream for that

Helen Leigh will be hosting a special episode of the Teardown Sessions during the open hack day. Join us live at noon Pacific to ask questions, see what people are working on, and get a tour of the CETI Lab.

Afterparty

After the open hack day is over we will head to Revolution Hall for food and drinks on their patio. Join us!

After the afterparty

The day after this event, on Sunday 11 Sep, we are also hosting a special afternoon Hardware Happy Hour meetup outdoors at the Bye and Bye, which is usually fun and very well attended. You are more than welcome at either or both!

End of term show

CETI will be hosting an end of term show on September 17th - all are welcome to come along, get involved and show your own work.
