Quantified Self for Health, Longevity, and Survival
Details
Ben Best will discuss his personal experiences as a subject in the Kronos Longevity study as well as with blood testing, DNA testing, microbiome testing, fitness and sleep monitoring, and heart rate variability. He will demonstrate equipment that he uses for obtaining metrics about himself. He will also discuss vital signs monitoring equipment and problems and solutions related to emergency response systems, including cryonics emergencies.
Too many cryonicists have experienced hours -- and sometimes days -- of warm ischemia because they live alone or died in their sleep. Worse, such patients have sometimes been subject to brain autopsy. A cryonics activist who was married was discovered dead on the floor of their house hours after cardiac arrest. Vital signs monitoring equipment could be life-saving for cryonicists who deanimate unobserved. The logistics and human support of such systems is at least as problematic as the systems themselves. Strategies for addressing these problems will be discussed.
Doors will open at 6:00 PM, and the Meetup will begin at 7:00 PM.
