As cryptocurrencies continue to gain ground in technological and financial centers, mass adoption has ceased to be merely a vision and is now taking place.
Digital asset featuring financial exchanges are now experiencing the largest transaction volumes in their histories. However, with great power comes great responsibility: some of them are (or have been) in the spotlight due to potential issues of risk or vulnerability.
This is where Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) come in play. Unlike centralized exchanges, DEXs don’t rely on third party services to hold user funds, and trades on a DEX are performed between users (P2P) through automated processes. Decentralizing our exchanges can change the world of trading and asset management, but only recently has the technology evolved to a point where DEXs can truly challenge a more traditional centralized exchange. In an effort to support the development and adoption of more decentralized exchanges, the Web3 Foundation organized a workshop in Berlin with 28 developers across 12 different DEX projects to share insights and help address ecosystem wide challenges that will be faced on the road to mass adoption.
