Oracles Unveiled: Securing Data for Smarter Blockchains

Details

In addition to our popular monthly in-person events, we are excited to introduce our new virtual 101 sessions. These sessions are designed to provide you with essential context and foundational knowledge on key topics, breaking down complex ideas and demystifying the world of Web3. Our goal is to empower you with the understanding and skills needed to thrive in this rapidly evolving field.

"You bring the curiosity, we bring the clarity"

This Month’s Topic: Blockchain Oracles

What are Oracles?
In the context of blockchain and cryptocurrency, oracles are specialized services that enable smart contracts to interact with data outside the blockchain. They act as a trusted source of truth, fetching and verifying external data—such as price feeds, market data, or the outcome of events—and delivering it on-chain.

Without oracles, smart contracts would be limited to the data available within their own networks, significantly restricting their potential use cases. Oracles are, therefore, essential for enabling more complex, real-world applications on the blockchain.

We are thrilled to have Filip Koprivec, Head of Developer Relations at Flare, as our guest speaker for this session. Flare is the blockchain for data, providing developers with secure decentralized access to high-integrity data from other chains and the internet.

By the end of this event, you will have a solid understanding of the following key concepts:

  • Overview of Oracles
  • Types of Oracles
  • How Oracles Work
  • Use Cases of Oracles
  • Challenges and Risks
  • The Future of Oracles

Join us to discover why oracles are a cornerstone of the Web3 infrastructure, how they function, and their potential impact on the future of decentralized applications and beyond.
