Why is Solarpunk optimistic about the future?
Solarpunk can be utopian, simply optimistic, or focused on the struggle for a better world, but never dystopian. As our world reels from calamities, we need solutions, not just warnings.
Our futurism is not nihilistic like cyberpunk and avoids the potentially quasi-reactionary tendencies of steampunk: it is about ingenuity, generativity, independence, and community.
