A Webinar based Tech Talks #06 - Evolutionary Computation
Details
IEEE and CSI brings you the Tech Talk Series
Description of Tech Talk #06
Speaker: Ms. Nikitha Poddatur,
Research Associate, Robotics Institute,
Carnegie Mellon University
Topic: Evolutionary Computation.
Evolutionary computation is a family of algorithms/problem solvers which are originally inspired by darwinian principles. Following are some aspects of evolutionary computation that would be discussed:
- A brief introduction discussing the nature of problems (AI related problems) and problem solvers, along with introducing some terminology)
- Inspiration from nature - how we relate ‘problems’ to nature
- Technical aspects of the field, like the basic skeletal of evolutionary algorithms and also understand a few popular evolutionary algorithms like evolutionary strategies, genetic programming, genetic/memetic algorithms etc.
- A few applications of evolutionary algorithms
- How does evolutionary computation as a field be related/compared to deep learning, given all the success stories we’ve been hearing about deep learning?
- A brief discussion on neuroevolution and evolutionary robotics
- Future of evolutionary computation, what do the experts say.
