Humanist Explorations - Cabaret

One of history’s lessons is George Santayana’s quote: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It is 1931, and we witness the incipient rise of Nazism in Germany. There is a small window through which it could be stopped, and we begin to realize how quickly and irrevocably that window can be shut.

From 1972, the film version of Cabaret, with Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey, and Michael York, takes us back to the 1930s and the horrors being unleashed on civilization. A cautionary tale, this—and worth revisiting in the times in which we now live.
