Monthly Meeting - Pot Luck and the Steady State Economy
Details
We’re used to hearing that a “healthy” economy must grow forever , as if bigger automatically means better. But humanists know that meaning, balance, and sustainability matter more than sheer size. So here’s a refreshing question: what if a mature economy doesn’t need endless growth at all?
On Saturday, October 17 at 5:30 pm, Brian Czech, Ph.D., founder and Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy, will join us after our potluck dinner. Brian will show how an economy grounded in real limits can actually strengthen sustainability and community and share why endless growth conflicts with so much, from environmental protection to national security. He will show us how a steady state economy can support genuine human well‑being.
Bring your curiosity and a dish to share for the potluck dinner. The potluck will start at 5:30 and the talk will start around 6:30.
Please note the change of date to Saturday. This replaces our usual 3rd Monday event as Dr. Czech is coming in from out of town.
