Agentic AI in Software Development: Beyond Assistance, Towards Autonomy

Details
Back in May last year, we explored how AI-assisted delivery tools like GitHub Copilot can boost developer experience and efficiency. This time, we’re taking the conversation to the next level — Agentic AI.
From SoftBank’s bold statements about replacing engineers with AI, to major tech players announcing layoffs in parallel with new AI investments, the narrative has shifted from “helping developers” to “replacing them.”
What happens when AI systems don’t just autocomplete your code, but take initiative: opening tickets, writing and testing modules, reviewing pull requests, refactoring legacy code, or even orchestrating entire delivery pipelines?
Together, we’ll explore the technical, cultural, and organizational shifts required to adopt these autonomous AI agents effectively — without sacrificing code quality, security, or team morale.
Expect a mix of real-world case studies, hands-on insights, and practical frameworks for evaluating when (and how) to trust AI with higher levels of responsibility in the development process.
Agenda:
- 18:30 Arrival & Drinks
- 19:30 Panel Discussion
- From Autocomplete to Autonomy – What Agentic AI actually is, and how it differs from AI-assisted tools.
- Use Cases in the Wild – Examples where AI agents are already delivering code, fixing bugs, and managing workflows.
- Governance & Guardrails – Ensuring code quality, security, and compliance when autonomous agents are contributing. Who is responsible for the AI’s work, and how to handle mistakes?
- Developer Experience & Team Dynamics – Balancing human creativity and AI autonomy to avoid skill atrophy or mistrust.
- Measuring Impact – Metrics for productivity, quality, and business value when AI is a teammate. Will we all have less developers in the future?
- The Road Ahead – Where Agentic AI could take software delivery in the next 3–5 years.
- 20:30 Networking: Connect with your peers, share experiences, and gain practical insights to implement in your own teams. Enjoy food and drinks courtesy of our host Seven Senders.
Expect lively discussions, insights from an expert panel, a fantastic venue, and plenty of networking with fellow tech leaders.
Join us for an evening of real talk, shared experience, and actionable ideas.
The panel consists of:
- Viktor Shcherban is a seasoned CTO, developer, and startup founder with 19 years of experience, who in the last 3 years has transitioned into an AI developer and consultant. He has been using AI coding tools since their technical preview phases and runs hands-on workshops for dev teams on AI-assisted coding.
- Oleksii Polishchuk is VP Engineering at Seven Senders, Europe’s leading parcel delivery platform. He joined the company in its early stages and has since advanced to the top engineering role. A Ukrainian, a ten-year Berliner, and a happy father of two, he is on a mission to drive technology strategy across software, cloud, and data, with a strong focus on AI and automation to scale innovative delivery solutions in logistics.
- Dat Tran is a seasoned technology and business leader with deep expertise in AI, machine learning, and digital transformation. As Partner & CTO at DATANOMIQ, he advises companies on AI strategy and implementation. Before that he worked for Axel Springer SE, idealo.de, Pivotal Labs and Accenture. His interests are diverse from traditional machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, AI in general to large language models. He has a lot of experiences from devising realistic data-driven use cases to the actual implementation into a real product; more than capable of distinguishing hype, buzzwords and wannabes from substance. He’s actively engaged with the global tech community, sharing insights on AI, tech leadership, and digital transformation with over 76k+ followers on LinkedIn. As a frequent keynote speaker, he has presented at conferences such as PyData, WeAreDevelopers, and many more.
- Shashi Ravula is an Engineering Leader at Zendesk. His group is pioneering the next generation of conversational AI by developing a powerful multi-agent system that's transforming chatbot and voice assistance experiences across text and voice channels.
The CTO Roundtable is organized by Elmar Weber (CTO at Thieme) and Christoph Beckmann (Founder/CTO at TechMiners). If you're interested in sponsoring, hosting, or contributing a topic for upcoming events, please don't hesitate to reach out!
