#7 - Product Engineers: bridging the gap between what to build and how to build

#7 - Product Engineers: bridging the gap between what to build and how to build

Details

How to close the gap between engineering and product teams by improving hiring and training practices with the objective of forming product engineers.

The talk touches on the active participation of developers in product development and not only on technical things as well as the good engineering practices in terms of QA and actively managing technical debt.

Although these practices are increasingly seen as necessary, they aren't necessarily easy to implement. How do you guarantee that teams are holistically thinking about the product and not only on meeting deadlines as this is often a big concern of product teams? How can the engineering folks have a product-focused conversation at the same level as the product folks? How to resolve conflicts between product and engineering? Finally, what is the role of engineers and engineering leadership (CTOs, etc) to help the overall organisation in seeing the product from an engineering point of view.
