This low budget noir from a very strange series from the 1940s is the third in Columbia's 8 "Whistler" movies. The Power of the Whistler (1945) is based on the popular radio drama The Whistler. Richard Dix (starred in 7 of the 8 movies) is the tortured protagonist and cast as an amnesiac named William Everett. He is given aid and comfort by Jean Lang (Janis Carter) as she tries to help Everett regain his memory and find out who may victimizing him.

I think the bizarre and campy production adds to its mystery and keeps you watching.

Along with The Cinncinati Kid and The Hustler, this is one of my favorite gambling movies.
