## A Table for Spring: A Czech Easter Gathering

Easter in the Czech Republic is a bridge between worlds. It’s where the deep, earthy roots of pagan spring rituals meet the warmth of shared Christian heritage. It’s the smell of fresh yeast, the sight of the first green sprouts, and the simple joy of a house coming back to life after winter.

On April 4th, we invite you to step out of the rush of the city and into a home-like setting to experience the true spirit of a Czech Easter.

### The Heart of the Day

This gathering is hosted by a Host from the Czech Republic who isn't just sharing recipes, but a piece of her home. We won’t be following rigid manuals; instead, we’ll be learning the way traditions are actually kept—through conversation, touch, and shared work.

### What we’ll do together

We’ll gather around the counter and the table to prepare a meal that tastes like renewal:

• Boží Milosti (God’s Graces): Together, we’ll roll, cut, and fry these crisp, delicate pastries. They are light, airy, and traditionally made to celebrate the end of fasting.
• The Main Table: Our Host will bake a classic Nádivka (savory bread stuffing with herbs) and toss a crisp Spring Salad, bringing together the hearty and the fresh.
• Ancient Flavors: While the oven does its work, we’ll snack on Devilled Eggs and Pučálka—an ancient, humble dish of pan-fried sprouted peas that has sustained Czech families for centuries.
• The Hunt: To keep the spirit light, we’ll hold a chocolate egg hunt—a bit of playfulness for the child in all of us.

If you are far from your own family, if you’re new to these traditions, or if you simply miss the feeling of a kitchen full of life, this afternoon is for you. There is no need to be an expert cook. This is about participation, not performance.
