ALL ABOARD — WE’RE GOING BACK TO BOBLO!
For generations of Detroiters, just hearing the word BOBLO brings back memories — summer days, amusement park rides, music, laughter, and that wonderful boat ride down the Detroit River. Now we finally have a chance to step aboard a piece of that history again!
Join us on Sunday, September 20 at 2:00 PM as we visit the long-awaited Boblo Boat Museum aboard the historic S.S. Ste. Claire!
Built in 1910, the Ste. Claire carried generations of passengers to Boblo Island and became almost as beloved as the amusement park itself. Today, her main deck has been transformed into a walk-through museum celebrating Boblo, Detroit and the remarkable history of this grand old boat.
The museum includes displays covering decades of Boblo history, historic memorabilia, the ship's enormous steam engine, the anchor windlass and some great photo opportunities — including a chance to get behind the ship's wheel!
And for those of us who actually remember going to Boblo, this should be especially fun. Come prepared to swap a few stories: Do you remember the boat ride? The rides? The music and dancing? Who did you go with? And just how long ago was it? (We don't have to answer that last one!)
NO RESERVATIONS ARE NEEDED. We simply arrive, purchase our admission and go aboard. Let's meet at the dock shortly before 2:00 PM so we can board together. Look for me at the dock!
Admission: $10 per person
S.S. Ste. Claire / Boblo Boat Museum
150 St. Jean Street, Detroit
Parking is available next to the boat.
AFTERWARD: Anyone who would like to keep the afternoon going is welcome to join me at a local restaurant for something to eat and more conversation. We'll decide where we'd like to go and head over together.
This isn't simply a museum visit — it's a chance to step aboard a piece of our own Detroit history and revisit some very happy memories.
Come join us as we go back to Boblo — no ferry ticket required this time!

We will join the Birmingham and Beyond meetup group on this one. For more information click HERE
