Mount Snowdon & THE UNESCO World Heritage Site of Slate Mining
Join us for a weekend of adventure in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We’ll be climbing Snowdon – Yr Wyddfa (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales and we'll be based in Llanberis, Snowdon’s village and the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers and a short drive from the beautiful coastline.
Breathtaking views are everywhere and the scenery simply stunning. Llanberis is also an area rich in history, myths and legends and has a strong cultural heritage. Take a walk around the Slate quarries of Llanberis and you will easily take yourself back in time to imagine when this area roofed the world! Or further back still, imagine when the whole valley was covered in snow and ice which shaped and carved this beautiful landscape.

SATURDAY JUNE 29th MOUNT SNOWDON
Snowdonia National Park hosts the highest mountain in England & Wales which was used to train mountaineers for the earliest attempts of Everest. We will climb England's and Wales highest Mountain, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) and explore the new UNESCO World Heritage Site of Slate Mining in the area Saturday
Snowdon Climb Route: We will travel by bus to our linear hike start at Pen y Pass. This start point gives us multiple route options up the mountain and also being a linear route allows us to see more sides of the mountain.
From Pen y Pass we will head up the Pyg Track, we will gradually gain height as we walk along the path. As we gain height the scenery becomes stunning, the lakes Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn will come into view below us and all the other surrounding mountains come into view.
We will see a few brave people as they head off to tackle Crib Goch and also the knife edge ridge which provides another route onto Snowdon. We'll eventually meet up with the miners track and zig-zag up to Bwlch Glas where we meet the Rangers and Llanberis path to the summit.
We will take a different route down the mountain so that we can see another side of this great mountain along with the scenery it provides. The route down will be via the Llanberis path which will take us straight back to our accommodation.
The selected paths are great for seeing nature, history of the area and spectacular views of the mountain. The route is approximately 13km long with a 750m ascent and 1050m decent and will take approximately 7 to 8 hours to complete with a rating of challenging.
SUNDAY JUNE 30th
