Join us for an amazing journey that will take you to a fascinating country. A land of wine and gold, delightful monasteries, castles and cathedrals and spectacular mountain scenery. From the Gardens of the Romanovs to Stalin’s birth place; from the ancient Saro Fortress to the magical cave city of Vardzia, this will be an epic adventure.

This rich itinerary will introduce you to the vast diversity of this country: from the warm Black Sea, to perpetually snow-covered peaks of the Greater Caucasus; from fertile valleys full of vineyards, to rocky canyons and the vibrant city of Tbilisi, barren plateaus to primeval rock-hewn towns and picturesque monasteries.

Georgia, however, does not consist only of marvellous nature and historical treasures – it is the motherland of wine and delicious cuisine. Georgian feasts, enriched with poetic toasts, are legendary, the itinerary includes copious dinners and drinks, which will allow you to experience the flavours of Caucasian feasts and hospitality.

DAY 1 SATURDAY JUNE 13th FLY LONDON TO TBILISI

Depart London by EasyJet 12:30. Arrival 8:30 pm at Tbilisi airport. Quick dinner and check-in to the hotel. Or flights with BA arriving early Sunday morning.

DAY 2 SUNDAY JUNE 14th DASHBASHI DIAMOND BRIDGE CAVE CITY OF VARDZIA SARO FORTRESS LAKE PARAVANI

We travel to the southern, part of Georgia famous for its monumental harsh landscapes, deep rocky river gorges & high-mountain volcanic plateaus. Visit Dashbashi canyon where a glass bridge with a diamond-shaped café has been built over the-deep canyon. Cross the Chikiani pass (around 2150 masl) and visit lake Paravani.

Pass the canyon of the river Kura, the biggest in Georgia. Visit the medieval cave city of Vardzia, which consists of 500 chambers carved into the vertical wall of the canyon.

Walk around the prehistoric fortress of Saro. A fortress as old as the legendary Troy or Mycenae, a monument from the very beginnings of human civilisation and the time when Georgian tribes were forming their first states. Built directly at the top of the Kura canyon it allows visitors to admire spectacular views of the 500-metre-deep gorge.

DAY 3, MONDAY JUNE 15th RABATI CASTLE BORJOMI SULPHUR SPRINGS ORKOL CERAMIC STUDIO GARDEN OF THE ROMANOVS

Visit the Georgian-Turkish castle of Rabati with recently renovated gardens, walls, and golden-domed mosque.

Then a stroll around the resort of Borjomi, famous for its sulphur springs and also the residence of the Romanovs, the ruling dynasty of the Russian Empire. A short walk in the spa park followed by a chance to try the healing waters from its springs.
Proceed to the city of Zugdidi, visit the workshop and gallery of a sculptor and pottery master in his Orkol Studio. Dinner in one of ethno houses presenting culture of the Samegrelo region.

DAY 4 TUESDAY JUNE 16th PROMETHEUS CAVE, MARTVILI CANYON, TEA PLANTATION
Excursion to a tea plantation and factory tour.

Visit the magnificent canyon of Martvili hidden in the middle green mountain slopes. In good weather a boat trip in the blue waters of Martvili Canyon is also possible.

Then a visit to the huge Prometheus karst cave and a 1 mile walk inside the cave through impressive chambers, one of which exceeds 20 metres in height.

DAY 5 WEDNESDAY JUNE 17th STALIN MUSEUM ANANURI CASTLE JVARI PASS

Drive to the central province of Georgia: Kartli. Visit Stalin’s museum.

Sightseeing of Ananuri castle standing on the shore of the blue Zhinvali reservoir.

Traverse the Georgian Military Road, making stops in the Jvari Pass (2395 masl) where we walk along the travertine formation of colourful rocks (Georgian Pamukhale).

DAY 6 THURSDAY JUNE 18th MOUNT KAZBEK MTSKHETA TBILISI
Visit the Holy Trinity (Tsminda Sameba) monastery, a crown of rocky peaks of the Dariali Gorge, snowy Kazbek peak and green alpine meadows. Then a drive to the ancient capital city of Mtskheta to see sights connected with baptism of the country in 4th century AD & the magnificent Svetitskhoveli cathedral, the spiritual heart of Georgia.

After sightseeing in the town, we drive to the 6th-Century Jvari monastery built atop a nearby hill where we’ll see the old capital lying in the fork of the Kura & Aragvi rivers.

We then drive to Tbilisi, where we have a walking tour through winding streets, ancient shrines, oriental-style sulphur baths, historical houses with wooden, carved balconies & a cable car ride above the old town.

DAY 7 FRIDAY JUNE 19th VALLEY OF KAKHETI TELAVI KVERI FACTORY EVENING GEORGIAN FEAST WITH MUSIC

Visit the valley of Kakheti called the cradle of wine. It is here where the oldest finds of viniculture were found dating back 8000 years! The region produces the majority of Georgian wine and is home to more than 300 endemic species of vine. Wine producers still follow here an ancient technology of aging wine by keeping it in the large clay pots dug into the ground called Kvevri. This way of winemaking is listed as an intangible world heritage by UNESCO.

Visit the city of Telavi and a home-made Kvevri factory. Learn how these large, often several-tonne jugs are made by a small number of families of specialized craftsmen.

Drive to Nekresi monastery located on the slopes of the Caucasus mountains and there admire one of the most beautiful views of the Kakheti valley with its fields and vineyards.

Visit one of Georgia’s oldest wine producers: Kindzmarauli Marani. Taste 4 types of wine, visit the winery. At another wine producer, Khareba, we’ll visit a 7 km long carved tunnel.

In the evening we will participate in traditional Georgian feast the Supra with long, poetic toasts, live music, enormous amounts of food, wine & other drinks.

DAY 8 SATURDAY JUNE 20th SIGHNAGHI UDABNO DAVID GAREJA
Visit the city of Sighnaghi, known for its XVIII-century houses, huge city walls and panoramic views of the Kakheti valley and Great Caucasus Range.

Drive to Udabno, a deserted plateau where we will see the rock-carved David Gareja monastery dating back to 5th century AD.

We’ll visit a unique restaurant “Oasis Club” in the middle of steppes serving mouth-watering dishes of Georgian and European cuisines. After the meal transfer to the airport. Easyjet flight to London 9pm or take the early morning with BA
