What is an old identity, or a piece of your past that you are still carrying around, simply because you don't know how to let it go?

We all love the romantic idea of a "clean slate." We idealize the thought of a fresh page, a new city, a blank canvas, or a rebranded life. We look at the turning of a page as an act of pure liberation, believing that if we could just wipe the scoreboard, we could finally become the authentic authors of our own stories.
But in reality, clearing the board is terrifying.

In a world that never forgets—where our childhoods are digitally indexed, our old mistakes leave permanent trails, and our past identities linger in the background—the act of starting fresh requires immense courage. To truly claim a clean slate, we have to confront the anxiety of letting go. We have to face the fear of deleting the old chapters, the comfort of our familiar baggage, and the vulnerability of standing before a completely blank horizon.

The Clean Slate is an exploration of the powerful, sometimes unsettling process of achieving personal closure to purposefully reinvent oneself. It is a gathering where we stop sweeping our past under the rug and instead ask: What does it actually take to forgive our past selves, close the old archives, and intentionally build a new foundation from scratch?

Join us at this Curious Souls Cafe gathering to explore the brave, liberating work of starting over. We will discuss the friction between our past histories and our future aspirations, the guilt of leaving outgrown versions of ourselves behind, and the profound freedom of finally choosing a fresh page.

We will use virtual question cards designed to help people thoughtfully explore their experiences. Here are some sample questions:

• We often crave a clean slate, but erasure can bring its own anxiety. In your own life, what is the hardest part about letting an old version of yourself go?
• If you could completely wipe the history of one past mistake, awkward phase, or unexamined habit without any consequences, what would it be—and why haven't you let it go yet?
• True reinvention often requires a boundary between "Before" and "After." How do you honor the person you used to be while firmly protecting the person you are actively trying to become?

From there, we’ll embark on a respectful, engaging, and meaningful conversation, celebrating the diversity of perspectives and ideas within the group.

Where time allows, in the final 10 minutes of the event, we’ll take a moment to reflect on the key insights, memorable moments, and takeaways from our discussions. This is a chance to distill the shared wisdom and leave with a deeper understanding of the topics we’ve explored together.

After the event officially concludes, the group may choose to extend the session, depending on the group’s interest. Of course, you’re welcome to leave at any time that feels right for you.

An anonymized summary will be shared for sessions where key insights are identified. After the meeting, our facilitators and participants may reflect on the discussion and contribute to a summary or collaborative workbook based on their notes and observations. Inside the shopping mall of Empire Centre, there is a large open area dedicated to a café. We will sit at a round table or sofa inside (near a Hang Seng ATM or 7-Eleven store). Please look for the big words "Curious Souls Café" on our table.

If you take the MTR, the nearest station and exit will be East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (Exit P1). From there, you can walk to Empire Centre, which is just a few minutes away.
