About us
đ If small talk drains you, deep conversations light you up, and youâre curious about many things - from science and philosophy to art and more - you'll feel at home here!
đĄ Groups are kept small to deepen conversations and give everyone a chance to speak. Each discussion is guided by currated theme-specific question cards and knowledge prepared in advance by the organizers - so we go beyond opinions and debate.
đ¤ Real connection and learning happen through the conversation by listening closely, being playful, curious and exploring ideas together.
𧊠Before each event, we share interactive âfood for thoughtâ on Instagram to warm up the conversation.

----------------------------- đ Shared Community Contributions -----------------------------
This community exists because a significant amount of care and work goes into organizing each event. This includes:
⢠Finding and coordinating quiet venues
⢠Preparing and facilitating events
⢠Managing logistics and communication
⢠Maintaining social media and community outreach (which helps grow the group and secure venues)
⢠Covering the increasing Meetup platform fees and related expenses
To keep this sustainable, participants are invited to contribute in one of two ways:
⢠Volunteer your time or skills to help organize, host, or support events (such social media outreach)
⢠Pay the event contribution, which helps cover the costs above
Both forms of contribution are equally valued đ
-------------------------- đŤ Respect, Community Integrity & Safety --------------------------
This is not a commercial service, but a community we build together. Mutual respect and trust are foundational.
Harassment, discrimination, or insults - in person or online - will result in an immediate ban.
Similarly, committing to attend and contribute (financially or otherwise) and then not following through undermines the shared trust that keeps this space alive. This may result in exclusion from future events.

Individualism, Community & Care - A Playful & Deep Conversation
Freiwilligenladen MĂźnchner Freiwillige â Wir helfen e.V., Tumblingerstrasse 50, MĂźnchen, DEArenât we often celebrating independence while quietly producing isolation?
And if community is the place of belonging and care, why can it sometimes feel like pressure, and losing oneself?Individualism - this promise that we become ourselves through freedom, autonomy, self-expression and choice.
And yet, the self is never formed alone.
We are born radically dependent. Our nervous systems learn safety through others. Our identities emerge through recognition. Our values are shaped by culture, language, memory, family, institutions, wounds and love. Even our sense of freedom may depend on invisible networks of care that hold us up.
đ Letâs playfully explore this theme through questions such as:
- Can freedom exist without community, or does real freedom depend on being supported?
- Can we belong without losing ourselves?
- How do capitalism, technology and self-optimization shape the way we relate?
- Are boundaries a form of self-respect, or can they become walls against intimacy and connection?
- Can community exist without sameness?
- Is love possible without some surrender of individual sovereignty?
⨠Playful experiment :
Weâll explore playfully together how connection, distance, and care feel - not just what we think about them.###

Veiling & Revealing - A Poetry & Reflection Circle on What We Hide & Show
Freiwilligenladen MĂźnchner Freiwillige â Wir helfen e.V., Tumblingerstrasse 50, MĂźnchen, DEHow much of yourself do you show, and how much do you keep behind the curtain?
We move through the world in layers: softening our edges, shaping personas, guarding our depths. Some veils protect. Some conceal. Some simply transform our bright light - like silk over a flame, not hiding it, but making it bearable to behold.
And yet, the most profound and authentic encounters - with ourselves, with others - are often described as moments of unveiling. We are never fully seen, and rarely fully hidden.
Through poetry, weâll step into that space between concealment and revelation - where words can both shelter and expose, where we can explore what we show, what we hide, and why.
WHAT to expect?
- Deep, human connection through poetry
- A layered exploration where emotion and intellect meet
- Resonance - Poets that open inner worlds⌠and awaken something in your own
WHO is this for?
- Anyone curious, you donât need to be a poet!
- Whether you write, love poetry, or simply want to listen and feel - this space is open to you :-)
HOW it unfolds?
- Weâll share poems and short texts - your own, or ones you love - sit with them, reflect together.
- Bring a poem (in any language), or simply come as you are to listen - carrying the edge of something youâve kept behind a curtain for too long.

Book Club - "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes
Freiwilligenladen MĂźnchner Freiwillige â Wir helfen e.V., Tumblingerstrasse 50, MĂźnchen, DE"I donât know whatâs worse: to not know what you are and be happy, or to become what youâve always wanted to be, and feel alone."
Through the story of Charlie Gordon, Flowers for Algernon immerses us in a slow, devastating transformation - where the pursuit of intelligence reveals not just knowledge, but the fragile architecture of love, dignity, and belonging. As Charlie changes, so does his understanding of the world, forcing us to confront an unsettling question: is it better to see clearly and suffer, or to remain untouched by truths that isolate us?
It is also a story about how we treat one another - about kindness, memory, and what remains of us when everything weâve gained begins to slip away.
