Curzon London Film Lovers

A group for people who like going to the cinema on a weekday afternoon and talking about it afterwards.

We meet at a Curzon - usually Bloomsbury, sometimes Soho, Mayfair or Victoria - for a daytime screening, then find somewhere nearby for a coffee or a glass of wine and a chat about what we've just seen. That's the whole idea.

This isn't a film studies seminar. Nobody needs to know who the cinematographer was or hold views on the French New Wave. If you liked it, say so. If you drifted off for twenty minutes in the middle, say that too. The conversation matters as much as the film, and the afternoon should feel like a break in the week rather than homework.

It suits anyone who's free during the day midweek and would rather see a film with company than alone. It also suits the reasonably spontaneous - screenings get picked a week or so ahead, sometimes less, so it's a better fit for people who can say yes on a Tuesday to a film on Thursday than for planners.

How it works: we pick a film and a screening, meet in the foyer, watch, then decamp to the bar or a café round the corner. Allow about three hours including the drink. You buy your own ticket. Come to one or come to all of them.
