The Menopause Journey and Chronic Pain, a community luncheon to raise awareness about menopause and its impact on health, will be held on November 11. Attendees will be provided lunch and a welcoming space to learn more about the menopause transition, feel comfortable asking questions and get helpful resources.

Featured speakers include Beth Frackleton, RN, UVA Chronic Care Wellness Coach, Mary Sherman, LCSW, UVA Employee Assistance Consultant, and JoAnn Pinkerton, MD, Director of UVA’s Midlife Health Division. Also joining us as sponsors are Virginia Women’s Foundation and Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center at UVA, with funding support from Central Virginia CFS and FM Association.

Menopause is defined as a full year without a period, but perimenopause can start 10 years before. The transition can include changes in regularity, flow and mood and progress to hot flashes, night sweats, heart palpitations, and fatigue. Less talked about is the chronic pain that affects many women at midlife, including joint and muscle pain, migraine, and pelvic pain.

Please join us for LUNCH AND CONVERSATION 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, in the UVA Rotunda Multipurpose Room. SPACE IS LIMITED SO ALL GUESTS MUST REGISTER at https://www.cvillenow.org/event-registration. Registrants will be provided parking in the Central Grounds Garage under the University Bookstore at 400 Emmet St.
